Kas is the southernmost resort in Turkey which has
transformed from a quiet fishing village into a quiet,
unspoiled tourist town.
Nestled at the foot of an impressive mountain
backdrop, Kas overlooks the Eastern Mediterranean.
Ruins of the ancient town of Antiphellos mix with
modern buildings in Kas. Across the water to the south
lies the Greek island of Megisti [Meis in Turkish]. You
can go there easily for a day trip by ferry.
Kas is also a good base for exploring the ancient
Lycian cities and archeological sites such as Demre
[Kale], Patara, Xanthos, Letoon and Saklikent.
Kas itself is a quiet pleasant town with narrow
streets scented with jasmine flowers, little guest
houses, quiet cafes serving home cooking and small bars
to relax after a day's exploration.
